CONTINUOUS ACTIVITY: Timeline of significant events influencing political and social change in Aboriginal affairs


You will be working on this timeline at different times throughout this section. As you travel through the exercises below demonstrate your understanding in a timeline (1900 -2014) of significant events, policies, and people involved in the struggle to achieve change studied in this section. You may wish to use 'Smart Art' on a Word doc. or an online timeline generator like 'TimeToast' or 'Dipity'.

Exercise i. - Freedom Rides
  • Discussion: Discuss and formulate a set of 3 criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of a movement/protest. Note them down as these will be used to assess the success of the Freedom Rides later in a decision making matrix.

  • Analyse the sources on the following document and respond to the questions in your notes. Then paraphrase into a cohesive piece of writing for your timeline (add source material to your timeline in support where appropriate too):
